VARÈSE - POÈME ÉLECTRONIQUE (REMIX)
Alarm Will Sound
2016

I was commissioned to create a remix of the seminal French composer Edgard Varèse's magnum opus, Poème Électronique to celebrate the release of Modernists, the new album by American orchestra Alarm Will Sound.

The entire piece is collaged from snippets of the orchestra's recording of the piece, with no extra parts added and minimal processing.

The remix was distributed by Cantaloupe Records.

Alarm Will Sound are amazing. Find out more here.

REV. MUSTARD, HIS INSTALLATION PRELUDE (REMIX)
James McVinney, ‘Cycles_1’
2017

cycles1.jpg

I was commissioned to remix a track from organist James McVinney's album Cycles, featuring music composed by American composer Nico Muhly. My version of Reverend Mustard, His Installation Prelude was included on Cycles_1, an album of remixes released by Icelandic label and home to both Muhly and McVinney Bedroom Community.

The bulk of this remix was done on a flight back from New York, spicing up snippets from the original recording into a dense, repetitive collage.

You can hear the whole album here.

CURVED FORM (NO.4) REMIX
Alex Groves + Eliza McCarthy
2019

I created a remix for London-based composer Alex Groves of his piece Curved Form (no. 4), performed by pianist Eliza McCarthy. Once again I used a collaging technique, calling only on the material found in the original file to create this slow-chugging gentle piece.

The EP from which this came was released in March 2019. You can here it all, including the original, here.
