The Moors Murders: A Search for Justice
Longtail Films for bbc two
2025
Directed by Poppy Goodheart, music by me.
Six decades of suffering for the victims' families and a case that shook the nation. Revelations and newly uncovered evidence as experts pursue answers and, ultimately, justice.
Using modern technological techniques and with the discovery of a cache of new evidence - including what appears to be an autobiography written by Brady - this episode sheds light on how police and media mistakes and have hindered the search for the remains of Keith Bennett.
The films discover several crucial new leads which could finally bring the case to a close, transforming the understanding of these crimes.
Musically, I was trying to capture the eerie, barren, windswept atmosphere of the moors themselves, so I used lots of heavily processed whistles and recorders as the bedrock of the soundworld.
